From Distinctive to Scalable, Insights from Andrei Carausu

Senior Creative Strategist, Andrei Carausu on translating Joe Browns into a scalable store concept.
“Joe Browns was never about redesigning the brand. It was about refining its personality into a store that feels richer, smarter and ready to grow.”

What was the real brief?

“Cirencester was not just another opening. It was a chance to evolve Joe Browns into a more immersive and operationally robust format — keeping the brand’s eccentricity and theatre, but shaping it into something more bespoke, more controlled and better suited to future rollout.”

Which detail best captures your thinking?

“The cash desk. I wanted the end of the customer journey to feel like part of the experience, not just a transaction. The skylight, chandeliers and layered detailing helped turn a practical moment into something theatrical, memorable and distinctly Joe Browns.”

How did you make it feel bespoke and scalable?

“A lot of the thinking sat in the layers that shaped the atmosphere, bespoke flooring moments, unique artwork, and patterns developed specifically for Joe Browns. These details gave the store its own identity, while still sitting within a wider system that could be adapted, updated and repeated as the brand grows.”
