Sustainability at SmithBrewer

Our Commitment

From initial design to final installation, sustainability is engineered into every stage of what we do.
SmithBrewer’s GreenMark Level 1 certification reflects not just compliance — but a clear commitment to continual improvement. It marks the first step in a structured journey to reduce our impact, increase efficiency, and embed environmental responsibility at the heart of our operations.

We believe great design shouldn’t cost the planet. Our goal is to deliver high-performing, commercially successful retail environments that also support a more sustainable future.

Our Approach

We take a practical, end-to-end approach — integrating sustainable thinking across:

  • Design & Development – Smarter use of materials, modularity, and circular design principles that extend product life and reduce waste.
  • Production & Procurement – Responsible sourcing, increased recycling, and ongoing collaboration with suppliers to raise environmental standards.
  • Warehousing & Logistics – Continuous review of packaging, routing, and energy use to minimise emissions and waste.
  • Installation & Aftercare – Systems designed for efficient assembly, reuse, and refurbishment rather than replacement.

Sustainability isn’t a separate initiative at SmithBrewer; it’s part of the way we work.

Our Objectives

We’ve set clear goals to guide our progress:

  1. Reduce waste through design efficiency and responsible material use.
  2. Increase energy efficiency across all facilities and operations.
  3. Transition to low-carbon and renewable energy sources wherever possible.
  4. Collaborate with our supply chain to promote sustainable materials and methods.
  5. Promote awareness and accountability within our teams and with our clients.
  6. Continually review and improve performance against measurable environmental standards.

Leadership & Accountability

Our Sustainability Steering Team, supported by senior management, leads the integration of environmental principles across departments.
Every employee plays a part — from design decisions to daily operations — ensuring sustainability remains a shared value and collective responsibility.

Looking Ahead

Achieving GreenMark Level 1 is an important milestone. But it’s only the beginning.
We are already working towards higher levels of accreditation, including GreenMark Level 3, as part of our long-term sustainability roadmap.

Our aim is simple: to deliver projects that perform commercially, inspire creatively, and tread lightly on the planet.
